Hunt for Red Midfielders

As the start of the season approaches, many United fans are still eagerly anticipating the first major signing of the Moyes era. Although United have seen the addition of Uruguayan left-back Guillermo Varela, United have yet to produce the marquee signing that fans crave and that the squad lacks. The primary focus of United's efforts this transfer window have been toward acquiring a creative midfielder. The midfield has been recognized as a key area for improvement by United boss David Moyes and a number of names are currently being tossed around as possible candidates for the role. The majority of the rumors circulating are of ongoing negotiations for Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas. While Barca maintain that the player is not for sale, the midfield maestro would be a welcome addition to the squad as the ex-Arsenal captain is an established talent with Premier League experience.

There has also been increasing talk of interest in Spurs hit man Gareth Bale, who scored 21 goals and won a hat trick of personal accolades last term. Bale is a great creative force who has wonderful vision and an eye for goal reminiscent to that of Cristiano Ronaldo. The player would be a great signing to banish the demons of last years inefficient wingers who were among the most inconsistent players in the United squad. Another player who has flown a bit under the radar is Everton ace Marouane Fellaini. The Industrious midfielder proved his class this term with an impressive 11 goals and 5 assists. The towering belgian could become a key player in the United squad and a reunion under former boss David Moyes isn't out of the question.

David Moyes is out to impress as United boss and is surely working hard to secure a major signing in the form of one or two star players. United have signaled their intent to compete in the transfer market, and reports indicate they are willing to break their transfer record of £30.75 million for Dimitar Berbatov back in 2008. With the increasing possibility of a major signing, United fans will hoping a deal goes through as quickly as possible.
